This is an excellent combination of a stair-stepper and treadmill. I get a much more effective workout on this machine than on a regular treadmill. There is a bit of a learning curve since there is no tread in the middle of the machine. But once you get used to placing your feet a little farther apart while stepping, you will not want to go back to a regular treadmill. I've seen some other reviewers say you have to stare at your feet constantly. That is entirely untrue. Once you are used to the machine you will not have to look at your feet. If you do, then you really shouldn't be on a treadmill and should be taking a yoga class to gain balance.
